Rowdy Rivals Wins VetLaunch Pitch Competition, Presented by King, Krebs & Jurgens
King, Krebs & Jurgens congratulates Mike Fernandez, co-founder of Rowdy Rivals, who was the winner of today's 2nd Annual VetLaunch “From Combat to Careers” Accelerator Pitch Competition. The competition, part of New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, was a chance for Mike and other veterans-turned-entrepreneurs to pitch their business models to a team of judges with the hopes of earning a $5,000 prize package to help develop their venture. Rowdy Rivals' concept is to use satirical web content to drive t-shirt and other merchandise sales to sports fanatics.
The day was the culmination of the VetLaunch Accelerator Program, which strives to harness the leadership experience of military veterans as a resource for creating successful businesses. King, Krebs & Jurgens attorneys both presented group instruction to the Program participants and offered individual legal mentoring, in addition to sponsoring the program.
“It was a rewarding and fun experience for our attorneys to volunteer their time to support these entrepreneurs during the course of the VetLaunch Accelerator Program,” said King, Krebs & Jurgens attorney David Strauss, who served on the judging panel. “These folks served our country and now they work to serve the business needs of our community. We wish success not just to the winner, Rowdy Rivals, but to all of the participating veterans as they continue their business development.”
The Accelerator Program is specifically tailored to Veterans, and covers such topics as how to start a business, choose a legal structure, decipher accounting requirements, market a business, and more.
