Adam P. Massey

Adam Massey is an experienced trial litigator and appellate advocate whose practice focuses on a variety of insurance defense related matters, including bad-faith insurance litigation, catastrophe/mass tort defense, insurance fraud, insurance coverage matters, and maritime/marine insurance coverage defense. Adam’s practice also includes general litigation and a concentration on complex child custody disputes. Adam has practiced extensively before Louisiana’s state and federal courts.

Adam joined King & Jurgens in 2005 and was elected a member in 2012. He graduated cum laude from Tulane University Law School in 2004. While at Tulane, Adam held a Rule XX limited law license while he worked for the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor in the felony and homicide units. Adam graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University in Boston in 2000. While at Northeastern, Adam studied Mandarin Chinese at the Nanying Institute of Technology in Singapore.

  • Representing specialty lines insurer regarding fraud claims involving unique risks
  • Representing Fortune 50 agribusiness/marine transportation company in Jones Act and LHWCA claims
  • Retained as special counsel by national insurer to assist with expert deposition challenges
  • Defended national insurer in mass joinder litigation pending in the Eastern District and involving hundreds of Hurricane Katrina bad faith claims for coverage under homeowners policies
  • Obtained walk-away dismissals for national insurer in several suits where plaintiffs were shown to have burned their vehicles
  • Obtained walk-away dismissal of plaintiff firm’s entire docket of bad-faith hurricane suits
  • Obtained zero verdict in bench trial for national insurer in fraudulent auto accident case
  • Obtained zero verdict in jury trial for national insurer in fraudulent auto accident case
  • Obtained reversal of long standing child custody order
  • Obtained full custody of child in multi-state custody battle following murder of child’s parent
